On 10 October 1973 Vietnam issued a stamp for the end of the Air War in Vietnam. On this stamp they state that 4181 aircrafts were shot down. I wanted to check against US accounts to see how close this was. I was surprised how hard it was to account for all US aircraft. The number I came up with was that the US lost 3,824 aircraft in Vietnam including helicopters.

During my research I found data for most of the 20th century below is charts for both victories and losses. The losses are for all reasons.
